Entrepreneurs & Investors
If you need permission to enter or stay under the Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) or Tier 1 (Investor) routes, we can advise you on the immigration requirements, prepare your application efficiently and submit it for you. We work proactively and will fit in seamlessly with your other professional advisors.
Working with clients across the UK and overseas, we have a 100% success rate for our work in securing leave to enter and remain under Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) and Tier 1 (Investor). Our position on the Home Office’s Operational Forum also enables us to influence key decision makers about issues that are important to entrepreneurs and investors.
We’re a niche entrepreneurial business ourselves, having moved away from the traditional law firm model, and our reputation amongst the UK’s fast-moving technology scene in particular has grown rapidly. We are regularly instructed by new start-ups, established technology companies, universities and international gradates and our recent work in this area includes securing Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) status for winners of Seedcamp Ltd, based in East London’s Google Campus.
Because we use cutting-edge technology and have none of the unnecessary overheads of traditional large city law firms, our fees are significantly more competitive.
You’ll also discover that we share your entrepreneurial spirit, passion and drive. We’ll slot into your team, resolve your immigration issues and free you up to develop your idea or business.
Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) is for those seeking to establish or join a UK business.
We will explain the requirements concerning the amount of funds that need to be invested in the business, the source of funds and documents required (including in relation to third party investments), the rules on investing in new or existing businesses, entrepreneurial teams, graduate entrepreneurs, the employment of resident workers and switching from other categories such as Tier 4, Tier 2 and Tier 1 (Post Study Work).
Our advice will be designed around your long-term future plans and your family and business needs. We will also ensure that you will be in a strong position to secure extensions, indefinite leave to remain and citizenship in the future.
The immigration authorities are scrutinising entrepreneur applications more than ever and refusals due to a lack of evidence concerning the plans for the business or the applicant’s skills and experience are increasingly common. By constantly monitoring developments we are able to spot potential issues at an early stage and present your application in the strongest possible manner. If you come to us because your application has been refused, we can prepare a robust appeal or challenge for you.
We have offices in Sheffield and if you are called for an interview by UKVI we offer a fixed fee service. This includes preparatory advice, our attendance at the interview with you and follow-up representations and advice.
Tier 1 (Investor) is for high net worth individuals.
On 6 November 2014 the scheme was significantly changed and is now aimed at those who have a minimum of £2 million to invest in the UK rather than the previous £1 million threshold.
Our advice will cover all aspects of the investor rules that you will need to consider, including the source of funds, the various timings and the types of investment that are permitted.
We will also cover areas such as permitted absences and strategies to ensure you obtain indefinite leave to remain and British citizenship. It is possible for investors to obtain indefinite leave to remain through an accelerated route, which involves a greater investment. Whilst in theory this is a good idea, there are some practical issues which will need to be explored and we will discuss these with you in detail.
If your family will be joining you, we can sort out their visas and advise you on whether or not you or your spouse is best placed to be the primary applicant. This will depend on whether or not you are going to be spending lots of time outside the UK, how your tax affairs are structured and so on. Our reputation amongst the education sector means that we can also advise you on the best strategies for your children’s schooling in the UK.
We can introduce you to other professional advisors in our network if you need help, for instance, with your tax, investment portfolio, accounting, property, company and any other important requirements. We also support the work that organisations such as Tech City UK, the British Chambers of Commerce and UKTI do to enhance the UK’s reputation as a leading destination for entrepreneurs and investors and we will be happy to introduce you to our contacts.
Establishing a long-term relationship with clients is important to us and we have designed a pricing structure that will give you discounts on our fees if you return to us in the future and instruct us to prepare your extension, indefinite leave to remain and citizenship applications. We work with clients across the UK and overseas.
